I must say that I am looking forward to tomorrow - the 21st June.
I love the Summer Solstice and the sky at this time of year is spectacular.
However, tomorrow we will be spending most time in the pub but if we have a clear sky, you can bet we will be merry outdoors.

The answer to your main question is yes, your spells do have an end point and that is when the spell has accomplished its goal. The problem being that it could be an open-ended spell which might need closure of some sort. For example a spell which was not properly thought out and worded incorrectly.
